Auburn Alumna to launch jewelry business - The Corner News (blog)
Morgan Emfinger’s fascination with designing jewelry inspired her to start making custom-made pieces in her free time. Her fun hobby soon led her to create The Missing Piece Studio, a one-woman business that plans to launch in November that offers unique custom-made jewelry pieces.
Emfinger graduated from Auburn in spring 2016 with a BA in public relations. Post graduation she decided to explore new hobbies.
“I started making jewelry because I needed a hobby,” she said. “I was always shopping and spending money. I needed something to occupy my time and I love being creative and seeing what I can make.”
Emfinger was also searching for gift ideas for her friends and family, which inspired the idea of custom-made jewelry.
“It makes the gift more special,” she said. “I love knowing someone took time out of their day to make something specifically for me.”
The Missing Piece Studio will offer necklaces, chokers and earrings in many different styles. Customers will have the option of choosing between different stones and beads and different materials such as leather, wire, chain and bead-and-stretch. Prices for jewelry will vary on the style, material and the complexity of the piece.
The unique part about the business is the customer gets to describe to Emfinger what they want, and she uses her creativity and imagination to give them that missing piece they desire.
“I think my business is unique because every single piece of jewelry is different and there’s no pieces out there like mine,” Emfinger said.
Emfinger is currently working on her business license and plans to expand her hobby and launch it into an official business in November. Until then, she’s spending her time designing pieces and stocking up on materials preparing for the unveiling.
“I can’t wait to see where my future jewelry business takes me,” she said.
