Get to Know the Jewelry Brand That's Bringing Charms Back - Allure Magazine
With a last name like Goldsmith, a career in jewelry design is likely written in the stars. Such was the case for Sheherazade Goldsmith, who—along with friend and fellow Brit/writer/style icon Laura Bailey—dreamed up Loquet London in 2013, crafting a luxury line of bespoke lockets and charms. The duo has since rounded out the collection with single stud earrings, charm bracelets, and starting this week, a smattering of delicate and ethereal locket-like rings.
Whatever the chosen piece, the aim of Loquet remains the same: A pretty and wearable means of collecting memories and stories. Each locket boasts a gold-encased, transparent crystal bauble designed to hold and display custom charms, gems, and whatever else one deems worthy of inclusion. “Most of us collect charms from childhood—pieces of jewelry that feel like treasure, commemorating an occasion that often marks a milestone,” says Goldsmith. “Every piece is a reflection of that person’s individuality.”

“I’ve always loved the idea of charms as a lucky code, from my very first childhood charm bracelet, with its dangly bells and hearts and keys,” says Bailey. Aside from the trademark lockets, Bailey mixes Loquet studs with hoops and star earrings by Maria Tash (she just got her ninth ear piercing), while Goldsmith enjoys the playfulness of layered rings—her collection includes dangling charms, colored pave, and a small heart-shaped locket.
In addition to jewelry, Goldsmith and Bailey share a relaxed approach to beauty, relying on tried-and-true staples for the transition to fall. “I love Sisley’s integral anti-age moisturizer and Yuli’s face cleanser for mornings,” says Goldsmith. “I use Okia for evenings, and never sleep with my make up on.” Bailey relies on Embryolisse for daytime moisturizer and Creme de la Mer at night. She also loves Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow and Beach Sticks in lieu of a blush for a healthy, summer-inspired glow.
Trend-wise, both ladies love bare skin—Goldsmith opts for barely-there makeup and a strong berry lip, while Bailey’s aesthetic centers on summertime freckles coupled with a subtle, glittery eye shadow (she counts sparkle-infused hues from Tom Ford and Laura Mercier as favorites). “I feel my best when I’m outdoors with my kids and my dog,” says Bailey. “My London work life is quite speedy, so I have to remember to take time out to just play—or relax.”
Goldsmith is of the same mind. “The best tricks are sleep and friends,” she says. “Both always bring a natural glow.”
