Police investigating pricey jewelry theft outside Lexington hotel - WKYT
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are investigating a large jewelry theft at Lexington hotel.
According to a police report, the victim told investigators a group of masked men stole more than a quarter of a million dollars worth of items from him.
Just before eight o'clock Wednesday night, an officer was called to the Holiday Inn on Buena Vista Drive for a report of a robbery. According to police, the victim was in town selling jewelry.
The victim told police that five men wearing masks jumped out of a van in the parking lot taking his bags. In the report, he also told police that the men threatened him with guns and knives. The victim says those bags contained 250 pieces of jewelry valued at around $275,000.
The managers at Holiday Inn say, unfortunately, they do not have surveillance cameras outside of their building.
At this point, there are not any descriptions for the possible suspects.
