IVCC offers December jewelry-making classes - MyWebTimes.com

Illinois Valley Community College’s Continuing Education Office is offering two jewelry classes in December.

In “Framed Vintage Jewelry Tree” (HLR-2774-312), meeting from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, students will use vintage or re-purposed jewelry to create a framed jewelry tree for the holidays, according to a press release from the college.

Each student should bring 10 to 12 brooches and beads, pearls, buttons, sequins or rhinestones from old or broken jewelry to complete their project. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor the night of class.

“Re-Purposed Jewelry Workshop” (HLR-2749-311), meeting from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, will allow participants to turn their “destash,” jewelry odds and ends, supplies and broken pieces into a unique new piece.

Class includes instruction and use of tools. Chains, jump rings, clasps and more will be provided. Students should bring their destash and a pair of chain nose pliers. A $15 material fee is payable to the instructor the night of class.

Cost of either class is $35. Call 815-224-0447 to register.
