PBSO: Man confesses to taking $22K of stepmom's jewelry, selling it - Palm Beach Post

In early October, his stepmother realized her debit card was missing when she went to use it at a store. Her transaction history showed someone had withdrawn $400 cash from the card, paid for an Airbnb and footed a $60 bill at Brass Tap in Boynton Beach, the sheriff’s office report states.

The woman had a hunch Lefton may have stolen jewelry from her, as well. Deputies checked local pawn shops and learned Lefton had pawned at least eight pieces of the woman’s jewelry, including a gold necklace, 18k white gold earrings and an engagement ring, valued at $22,000. He only pocketed about $1,100 for the jewelry, Lake Worth Gold Mine employees told the sheriff’s office.

Lefton is receiving treatment at a drug and alcohol recovery facility, according to court records. He is scheduled to appear in court again Dec. 16, records show.
