More than $8000 in cash, jewelry stolen in Akron home invasion robbery, report says - cleveland.com

AKRON, Ohio -- Three robbers forced their way into a man's house, pistol-whipped him and stole more than $8,000 in cash and jewelry Thursday in Akron, according to a police report.

The 25-year-old resident did not suffer serious injuries in the robbery that happened about 2 p.m. on Andrus Street near Brighton Drive, police said.

The resident told investigators that two men and a woman took a lock box containing $4,600 in cash, a $3,000 diamond necklace, a $560 pair of diamond earrings and a gold bracelet of unknown value, the report says.

The woman knocked on the resident's front door and spoke with him until two men with handguns walked up and forced the resident into the house, the report says.

One of the men pistol-whipped the resident in the head, the report said. The two men took the lock box before they ran from the house.

Akron Fire Department paramedics treated the resident at his house for a small cut on his forehead.

No suspects have been identified in the robbery, which remains under investigation, police said.
