Spokane cancer patient says she's missing jewelry after surgery ... - KHQ Right Now

SPOKANE, Wash. -

48-year-old Sherri Denison has been through a lot in 2017. In February Sherri went in for a mammogram and doctors at sacred heart gave her the news nobody wants to hear "I was diagnosed with ducal carcinoma which is breast cancer in my right breast," said Sherri.

In July, Sherri had both breasts removed and then had reconstructive surgery several days later. Sherri say's her husband saved her life and doctors caught the cancer just in the nick of time... But recently had to go under more reconstructive surgery. But when Sherri was about to go under the knife they asked her to remove her jewelry "I asked her to tape them on me and she said no we need to take them off," Sherri added.

Sherri took her wedding ring, engagement ring, a ruby ring and her necklace  off and put them into a plastic bag and handed them to a nurse so she could put Sherri's jewelry with the rest of her belongings. But when she woke up after surgery her rings and necklace were nowhere to be found "Later on I found out that she didn't even record putting them in the bag or making me sign a piece of paper saying they took the rings or nothing," said Sherri.

According to Sacred Heart's Preparing For Surgery booklet all patients are to leave "rings, jewelry (all piercings) and large sums of money, credit cards and other valuables at home." but if that's not possible a patient can ask a nurse to secure them. Sherri called hospital security and filed a report but with no luck They just said that they're gone they cannot find them and they're trying to look for them but they can't find them," Sherri said.

In the end Sherri hopes a miracle will help find her missing jewelry because of the sentimental value they have to her “I just want my rings back and my necklace that's what I want back," added Sherri

Sacred Heart released this response:

“Sacred Heart is aware of a report by a former patient that jewelry is missing following a procedure late last week, and understands that the individual is concerned. It is our process to complete a thorough investigation, which is underway. Until the investigation is complete, we have no additional information at this time.”
