Car crashes into downtown Milwaukee jewelry store - WISN Milwaukee
Police say a vehicle hit a squad car then crashed into a jewelry store in downtown Milwaukee early Tuesday morning.
It happened around 3:20 a.m. near James Lovell Street and Wisconsin Avenue.
Police told WISN 12 News that two vehicles were racing each other and went through a red light. One of the cars hit an unmarked squad car, lost control and crashed into a jewelry store, according to police.
The driver of the crashed vehicle was picked up by the driver of the second vehicle, which then left the scene, according to police.
Police said an occupant started shooting at the two detectives as they were leaving the scene. One bullet hit the squad car. The detectives were not shot, however one of them suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Officials said the suspects are still on the run.
