Party guests, repairman among suspects in jewelry theft - Buffalo News

NIAGARA FALLS — A 73rd Street woman is adamant that the theft of more than $20,000 worth of jewelry from her home was committed by one of her recent holiday party guests, police said.

The victim told police that Friday afternoon, she discovered three gold rings missing from a jewelry box inside a dresser in her bedroom. She said that one was a pinky ring valued at about $100, and another included diamonds and was valued at $500. The most valuable was a one-carat diamond ring she claimed was worth $20,000.

She told police that she had several friends over for holiday get-togethers, and insisted that the thief was one of those visitors, or possibly a cable television repairman who had been inside the home recently. She insisted that her home had not been broken into, police said.
