Robbers try daylight smash-and-grab at jewelry store: cops - New York Post
A man and woman barged into a Manhattan jewelry store, pepper sprayed its employees and attempted to steal jewels in broad daylight, police said Sunday.
The male thief first entered Noble NY Jewelry on Mott Street in Chinatown around 11:30 a.m. Saturday and pepper sprayed one of the female employees as she stood in the showroom. He led the woman and her manager to the back of the store, a police source said.
A female accomplice then entered the store and pepper-sprayed the manager before both crooks smashed jewelry display cases with an unknown object, the law enforcement source said.
The attempted thieves ran off only moments later, but police officials say nothing was stolen.
Both victims – ages 49 and 53 – refused medical treatment.
