Armed man robs Clayton jewelry store | Law and order | stltoday.com - STLtoday.com

CLAYTON • Police are searching for an armed man who robbed The Diamond Shop at 12 North Central Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The man got away with an unspecified amount of cash and merchandise.

He was described as black, in his 30s or 40s with a scruffy beard and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black jacket and Chicago Bulls cap with a flat brim.

The suspect was picked up by an accomplice in a red four-door Hyundai Azera. The accomplice was wearing a pink baseball cap and pink pants. They were last seen driving south on Bemiston Avenue.

The Clayton Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying the suspect.

The robbery of The Diamond Shop in Clayton is just the latest in a string of jewelry store heists. On March 19 armed robbers fired shots while robbing Vincent's Jewelers in Creve Coeur, 15 minutes from Clayton. Another Creve Coeur jewelry store was burglarized the following day, though the perpetrators who hit Genovese Jewelers broke in while the store was closed.
