Jacksonville jewelry store co-owner charged with grand theft, fraud - WJXT News4JAX
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Jacksonville man who co-owned Crown Jewelers was arrested Monday on six counts of grand theft and one count of fraud, authorities said.
According to the arrest warrant, Alessandro Jiminez, 34, accepted five Rolex watches and one ring from clients to either sell or repair.
The warrant states all six pieces of jewelry, with an estimated value of about $100,000, disappeared from 2014 to 2017.
According to the warrant, the clients felt like they could trust Jiminez. Two of the clients have sued him.
Jewel Tech manager Matt Feistamel told News4Jax on Wednesday that Jiminez swindled his customer out of a Rolex watch band in 2015.
"We gave it to him and paid him for the service. He was going to rebuild the bracelet for us, and never returned it -- cashed the check, then never returned the customer's watch band," Feistamel said. "He wouldn't answer the phone. It got to the point, if you got ahold of him, you were lucky."
The manager said not only does he want Jiminez to serve time, he wants him to pay back the customer's Rolex band.
"I hope he goes away. I hope he gets locked up and does time," Feistamel said. "Making honest jewelers look bad."
Jiminez was booked into the Duval County jail, but was released Tuesday afternoon on $140,000 bond.
He could not be found Wednesday when News4Jax went to the place where police said he last lived.
According to court documents, Crown Jewelers was evicted in 2016 from its location on San Marco Boulevard.
