Luncheon at Sant Ambroeus features Chantecler jewelry designs - Palm Beach Daily News

It was an afternoon filled with the spirit of Capri at Sant Ambroeus when Chantecler Jewelry stopped by to share some of its island sparkle. Hamilton Jewelers hosted a private luncheon with the Italian-based company to showcase its latest collection.

Designer Costanza Aprea walked guests through pieces and their history. She learned a few things from her father, Salvatore Aprea, who founded the company with Pietro Capuano. Today, the company continues to be run by second-generation family members.

“The trick is to create and treat every piece with the same attention our high-end jewelry receives,” Aprea said. “And always be unique.”

Chantecler was founded in 1947. Its clients have included Audrey Hepburn, Liz Taylor, Grace Kelly and Jackie Onassis.

Every piece of jewelry reflect the island of Capri, whether it’s the gems, stones, hues or design. Mounting techniques used by the designers — from claws to pavĂ© to wrought — give the pieces a sense of volume, flexibility and movement, company officials said.

The brand has stores in Italy, China, Japan and Hong Kong with an exclusive point of sale at Hamilton Jewelers at 215 Worth Ave.

Iconic fashions — Actress Ali MacGraw is hosting a trunk show in Palm Beach featuring her latest fashion collection for Ibu. The company partners with women artisans in 35 developing countries where they buy handmade items at the artisan’s asking price.

These women craft every piece of apparel and accessories by hand.

The ali4ibu: Now & Then collection celebrates the best styles throughout the decades featuring MacGraw’s signature black-and-white palette with dramatic bolts of Chinese red lacquer.

Pieces in the collection include caftans, tunics, pants, skirts and jackets. Accessories range from colorful necklaces, bangles, cuffs, earrings, sandals and shawls to clutches and bags.

The collection will debut at Mary Mahoney from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. The store is located at 344 Worth Ave.
