Antioch jewelry store robbery suspects arrested, bank robber sought - East Bay Times

ANTIOCH — Two juveniles and an adult were arrested in Brentwood on Friday morning where they were pursued by police after trying to rob an Antioch jewelry store, authorities said.

Police were still seeking a man who robbed an Antioch bank less than an hour earlier.

Arrested in the attempted robbery of Lauryn Jewelers, 5887 Lone Tree Way, were a 15-year-old Oakland boy, a 16-year-old Pittsburg boy and a 26-year-old Oakland man, police said.

In a news release, police said the three attempted an armed robbery at the store about 10:41 a.m. Friday but fled without taking anything.  A store clerk called 911 with a detailed description of the suspects and the car they were driving.

An Antioch police officer saw the car on Highway 4 and started pursuing it. The chase ended when the suspect vehicle became disabled in the area of the Highway 4 Bypass and Fairview Avenue, where the suspects ran on foot into a nearby retirement community in Brentwood.

Officers from Antioch, Pittsburg and Brentwood set up a perimeter in the neighborhood, where a search ended with the suspects arrested, the release said. During the search, residents were told to stay inside their homes.

In a separate release, Antioch police said a man robbed the Chase Bank, 4300 Lone Tree Way about 9:51 a.m. Friday. The robber gave a teller a note demanding cash and indicated he had a gun, police said. The robber fled with an undetermined amount of cash. A detailed description of the man was not released.

Police did not immediately respond to a media inquiry if the man arrested in the jewelry store robbery was possibly linked to the bank heist, particularly since they were in the same area.
