Sterling-silver jewelry sale this week - Herald-Mail Media

Meritus Medical Center Auxiliary Inc. is hosting a sterling-silver jewelry sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in the lobby of the medical center at 11116 Medical Campus Road, east of Hagerstown.

The sale features genuine sterling-silver jewelry and semiprecious stones in gift boxes at prices ranging from $9.99 to $149.99.

There is a one-year warranty on all purchases. Payments may be made with cash, or by check, credit card or payroll deduction.

All proceeds benefit the auxiliary.

Church hosting free supper on Thursday

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave. in Hagerstown, will host its free monthly supper at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The evening will include music by Rhythm of Mercy from St. James Brethren Church.

Ballroom dance set for Thursday

Clare Domer's ballroom dance is from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 on Northern Avenue in Hagerstown.

The cost is $5 per person.

Sled-hockey fundraiser

The area’s second sled-hockey game fundraiser is at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Hagerstown Ice & Sports Complex at Fairgrounds Park. The Hagerstown Kodiaks will take on the Palmyra Black Knights.

Admission is $5 per adult, $12 per family of three or more. There will be raffles for themed baskets and 50/50s.

All money raised will benefit the Hagerstown Kodiaks sled-hockey team for the purchase of sleds and equipment, and to cover other expenses.

Slippery potpie supper being served Saturday

The Wolfsville Ruritan is holding a slippery potpie supper Saturday from 4 p.m. until the food is gone at the Ruritan Park, 12708 Brandenburg Hollow Road in Myersville, Md. There will be all-you-can-eat chicken or ham potpie, plus one serving of salad, bread, pickles and cake.

The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children. Quarts will be sold for $6.

Cider press offers dance lessons, music

Dance lessons will be offered from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through May 23, at The Old Cider Press, 47 Crystal Falls Drive in Smithsburg. The cost is $10 per class. Participants are admitted free to the Cider Press dance 0arty.

Music and instruction will be provided by Kip Young of Forever Young. Sign up at the Old Cider Press or call Young at 520-400-5998.

Also at The Cider Press, Jesse Bell & Friends will perform classic country and gospel medleys from 5:45 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Come sing, play or just listen.

The cost is $4. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available.
