Diamond Jewelry Turns Up The Glamour At The 2019 Golden Globes - Forbes
On Friday, January 4, two days before the 2019 Golden Globes, we posed the question: would we see the same jewelry trends that sparkled at the 2018 Globes? We did see similar directions. However there were a few differences. Statement necklaces seemed to take over the spotlight and after a long run earrings took second place. There were still plenty of winning styles, which ran the gamut from close to the ear cluster styles to long, swingy and linear.
This year’s A-list actresses were again armed with stacks of bracelets. Last year’s Globes’ actresses were unified in black gowns in honor of Time’s Up, but this year’s celebrities turned up the individuality in stunning looks that ranged from all white to vibrant color. The stars didn’t just shine—they dazzled in dramatic gowns and glorious diamonds. There were moments when emeralds and rubies and other colored gemstones got a nod.
Michelle Yeoh who was wearing a vintage diamond necklace flashed her own personal emerald ring that she also wore as part of the plot of Crazy Rich Asians. There were other sparks of emeralds by Lorraine Schwartz on Catherine Zeta-Jones and in the Nikos Koulis earring that’s Jodie Corner wore. Julianne Moore wore a wrist full of Chopard bracelets in both diamonds and rubies, but the main gem of the earrings were diamonds and they twinkled brightly, creating a feeling of all-out glamour.
It was also refreshing to see the best of the jewelry bring out the personalities of the actresses who wore the pieces, from Constance Wu who evoked a youthful elegance to Lady Gaga who turned on the sparkle with just the right amount of drama to Charlize Theron who brought on the sophistication and allure Hollywood’s heyday.
