Police searching for suspect who stole diamonds, more from Cumberland County jewelry store - PennLive

Police are looking for a man they say went into a jewelry store asking to look at diamond rings, then brought out a gun and began threatening employees.

The suspect entered the Kay Jewelers at 256 Westminster Drive, South Middleton Township, on Wednesday afternoon. After asking to see rings, he brandished a handgun and pointed it at sales associates.

Two employees placed diamond rings and other jewelry in a Wal-Mart grocery bag, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

The employees pulled the fire alarm, which alerted fire and police personnel to respond to the scene. State Police said they received the call around 3:24 p.m.

Neither employee suffered injuries during the incident, police said.

The suspect is described as being a black man, approximately five foot eight inches tall, wearing a gray fleece sweater, blue jeans, a silver Nike hat and dress shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Carlisle state police barracks at 717-249-2121.
