Chattanooga woman turns lifelong art skills into a jewelry making business - WTVC

The art of jewelry making has helped one Chattanooga woman create a local business .
StoneLink Designs was created by Elizabeth Long, she says she has been using this as her full-time job for the last 7 years.
Closely clipping and threading through small holed beads are only 2 steps involved in the process behind Elizabeth Long's necklaces.
"Labradorite and moonstone is my favorite to work with," says Elizabeth.
Elizabeth says art has been apart of her life for as long as she can remember.
"I've always been into art, even as a little girl I started drawing out ships" says Elizabeth.
Elizabeth says she learned her jewelry technique through education..."I recently took a week long class in Georgia...""My high school had a jewelry class". says Elizabeth.
Not only learning through education, but also through fifteen years of practice.
"Trial and error, trial and error," says Elizabeth.
Sculpting rings, earrings and much more.
Imprinting fine detail into each piece, Elizabeth says she enjoys when crowds do a double take.

"The best moment is when a customer says let me put my glasses on" says Elizabeth.
Using textures like lace and plant leaves, she marks her silver clay pendants with a special design.
From 2 hours to 2 days, Elizabeth says her art is time consuming.

"It's very relaxing and it's something I've done my entire life" says Elizabeth.
She says the final product is only a small part of her gratification in jewelry making...the other?
"If you're out and you see that they've got something of yours on I mean that's really special" says Elizabeth.
