At the Annual High Jewelry Show in Vegas, The Best Pieces Had Heart - Vogue

“What Happens in Vegas—God Knows! Be Not Deceived; God is Not Mocked,” reads the billboard over the highway on the drive in from McCarran airport to the Strip. Which means that the heavenly father is currently aware not just of Gaga’s gyrations at the MGM Park, not just the half-naked babes strolling through the Wynn lobby on their way to the pool, not just the guys from Amsterdam at the blackjack tables dressed in identical Elvis costumes for the trip of a lifetime (this is true!) but even you, blissfully strolling the aisles of Couture, the annual high jewelry show where more than 200 dealers, from the firmly established to the fledgling, come to show off their creations in early June.

Couture is more than a mere trade show—it’s a gathering of the tribes, a place where you can gleefully indulge in wicked jewelry gossip (“This one stole his designs from that one!”) and endlessly discuss things like lab-grown versus mined diamonds, pink versus yellow, gold versus platinum versus silver, mine-cuts versus rose-cuts, channel settings versus prongs, and no one will say, “Shut up, Lynn, all this jewelry talk is boring!”

With so much to absorb, so much to covet, so much to adore, it is almost impossible to highlight just a few artisans. But then you realize, it’s Pride Month! So why not collect a panoply of hearts from our favorite jewelers: passionate hearts to dangle from wrists, pierced hearts to swing around necks, pretty little hearts to twinkle from fingers—hearts for everyone on the LGBTQ spectrum, and even the cis men and women who fiercely support their brother, sister, nonbinary, and gender fluid comrades.

Here, a spectacular array of this eternal symbol of devotion, first seen in Las Vegas but ready to shine all over the world.
