Woman searching for lost jewelry she mistakenly donated with hiking boots - Boston 25 News

WEST ROXBURY, Mass. - Karen Sherritt showed Boston 25 News her wedding pictures from 31 years ago, and on her finger is an engagement ring.
She'd put it away because it was damaged.
"I don’t typically wear it because I had broken the prongs on some yard work I was doing," she said.
So Karen found a special place to hide it: inside a pair of brown hiking boots until she could get it repaired.
Fast forward to last fall, when she started some major house cleaning.
"This is the time. Let’s try to downsize, get rid of things we don’t need," she said.
She cleaned out several closets, and donated clothes and shoes.
"I was Marie Kondo-ing. I was getting rid of anything I hadn’t used or didn’t bring me joy," she said.
That included several pairs of shoes, including brown boots taken to this Savers in West Roxbury.
Two months later, the clutter was gone. Karen decided to get her engagement ring fixed, when a chill ran down her spine.
"Then it hit me, 'Oh my goodness. I don’t use those shoes and I donated them,'" she said.
Inside the brown boots was her ring and other jewelry, inside a plastic bag.
"It had my ring, it had earrings that my grandma gave me and two other little rings my grandma had given me," she said.
She raced back to Savers, but they told her it was too late.
Attempts to reach Savers for comment were unsuccessful on Tuesday.
Karen's only hope now is that someone recognizes her shoes or the jewelry.
"If someone bought these shoes and found this little packet, that they would consider goving it back to me," she said.
