Auction to feature estate jewelry, gold coins - Long Island Business News

Everything old is new again, and if it’s a vintage item, it may hold special flair.

With sustainability growing increasingly prevalent, vintage, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces are gaining momentum. These items provide the fashion conscious a sense of style without putting the kind of pressure on the planet that comes with producing new jewelry pieces.

Sourcing vintage pieces is part of the experience, and Richard Maltz, the CEO of Maltz Actions said a Sept. 18 auction at the company’s Central Islip location at 11 a.m. features estate diamond and gemstone jewelry with a connection to the past.

These items include Cartier pieces, diamond engagement rings, Rolex watches and other items. Also available gold coins and bullion.

There’s a “tremendous assortment of jewelry from lower end to higher end,” Maltz said.

With so many items, the auction’s pace will be “pretty rapid,” Maltz said.

Opening bids, he said, would be “very modest,” from $25 to $2,500, depending on the item.

Viewing begins at 9 a.m., but only those bringing cash, a cashiers check or postal money order will be able to make purchases.
