Brooklyn robber suspected of 13 crimes, netting $60K in jewelry: cops - New York Post
Cops on Monday collared a serial stick-up artist from Brooklyn who is suspected of helping pull off 13 crimes across the city, netting tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry, authorities said.
Brandon McDonald, 32, was arrested and charged with one count of robbery for the Greenpoint stick-up of a 25-year-old woman Aug. 9, according to the NYPD. The victim was walking on Kingsland Avenue near Woodpoint Road when McDonald robbed her of her purse, police said.
But McDonald also is believed to be involved in a dozen other robberies or attempted shakedowns, 10 of which involved a firearm, during the first half of August in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn, police said.
McDonald and an unidentified partner scored more than $60,000 in jewelry, as well as cell phones, cash and credit cards, in their spree, according to cops.
In one of the incidents, the duo made off with $24,000 in jewelry Aug. 3 when they acted as if they were armed and robbed a 27-year-old man near Ninth Street and Queens Plaza South in Queens around 5:30 p.m., cops said.
Three days later, the pair held up a 40-year-old man on Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, scoring $15,000 in jewelry and a cell phone, police said.
A police spokesman said the NYPD expects additional charges to be brought against McDonald in connection to the other crimes after victims ID him as their robber.
