Wichita jewelry store shines badges for WPD ahead of detective's funeral - KWCH
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) A Wichita jewelry store is doing something special for officers who plan to attend the funeral for one of their own.
Det. Matt Young died on Oct. 1 after losing his fight with pancreatic cancer.
Jewelry Savers of Wichita is shining badges for officers who will say their final farewell to Young on Saturday.
"Every time we have a major incident in the department, someone's loss of life, someone is severely injured, we've had lots and lots of companies, lots and lots of citizens step forward. It's very comforting and refreshing to us," said Officer Steve Jarrell.
Ryan Cuttler, with Jewelry Savers, says it's important to give back.
"The small things that we can do, polishing a badge, anything that can help, we'll make this work for them," he said.
Donations can still be made for the family of Det. Young through the Honore Adversis Foundation.
