PITTSFIELD, Ill -- A man wanted for the burglary of a Pittsfield jewelry store was arrested Sunday in Alabama.
The Pittsfield Police Department said Charles Francis Dome Jr., 36, address unknown, is being held in the Escambia County Jail in Brewton, Ala., on a warrant for charges of burglary and theft over $500.
Pittsfield police officers and Pike County sheriff's deputies were dispatched by a security alarm in the early morning hours of Aug. 29 to J. Roberts Jewelers, 131 N. Madison. The store reportedly had been forcibly entered, and jewelry was taken.
An Illinois State Police crime scene investigator processed the scene, and on Thursday, the agency's crime lab notified police that a fingerprint lifted from the scene allegedly matched Dome's.
Investigators expect to travel to Alabama to assist with search warrants in an effort to recover stolen jewelry and to identify other suspects.
