Jewelry store worker thrown from hood of car while chasing thief - Tampabay.com

The thief ran off about 7 p.m. with two pieces of jewelry — a gold necklace and bracelet, valued around $23,500 — about 7 p.m. from Mirage Diamond & Fine Jewelry in the Westfield Brandon mall.

He jumped into a silver, newer-model Chevrolet Camaro, deputies said.

The employee, who was not identified, attempted to confront the thief and latched onto the car's hood, deputies said. The thief fled north toward Brandon Boulevard with the employee still on the hood, deputies said.

The employee was eventually thrown off of the car at Brandon Boulevard W and Brandon Town Center Drive and was transported to Tampa General Hospital.

The Camaro was last spotted entering Interstate 75 northbound, deputies reported.
