Police say he distracted the clerk, then walked off with $5K in jewelry - The State

A man stole a gold chain and diamond necklace after distracting a sales clerk at the Jewelry Warehouse on Knox Abbot Drive, according to authorities.

The Cayce Department of Public Safety seeks help identifying the man, who entered the store in Cayce at about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 15, according to a news release Monday. While inside, the suspect distracted the sales clerk and took an 18-inch, 10-karat, yellow gold Figaro chain with a lobster-claw clasp. He also is accused of taking a 7-inch, 14-karat yellow gold bracelet with a box-style clasp and diamonds totaling 3.5 carats The jewelry was valued at $5,000.
