Sadly, John Mayer Is Not Launching a Jewelry Line - Yahoo Food

Multiple outlets have reported that singer-songwriter John Mayer is launching a jewelry line, teaming up with jeweler George Frost for a five-piece capsule collection of necklaces and bracelets, ranging in price from $50 to $195.

This is not true.

“I didn’t design a jewelry line, and I didn’t collaborate on one,” Mayer tweeted on Sept. 21. “New items are added to web store from time to time, first I’ve seen of em.”

The line, which you should browse on his website while you can, features hippie-themed pieces and apparently was inspired by the themes seen in his song writing. The Double Wrap Morse Necklace ($160), for example, uses multicolored beads to spell out messaging in Morse code, and the first two necklaces in this series spell “love is a verb” and “born and raised” using a mix of wooden and glass African trade beads.

Considering Mayer is all about supporting peace and love in his songs, it’s not surprising that the jewelry line inspired by his music would follow suit.

Us Weekly reports that George Frost founder and creator Lisa Salzer said in a release, “[Creative director Marlon Taylor-Wiles] and I grew up listening to John and have always been inspired by the bohemian spirit that infuses his music. There’s a great synergy between the two brands that allowed us to stay true to George Frost’s subversive style and incorporate John’s lyrics among necklaces and bracelets.”

While the release states that the pieces will be exclusively available in the singer’s online shop, a rep for Mayer told Us Weekly that the singer will be pulling the pieces from his site.

It wouldn’t have been completely shocking for the musician to launch his own jewelry line — Tori Spelling and Long Island medium Teresa Caputo began their own jewelry lines in the past.

Caputo, who began her Jeweled Moments line, and Spelling, who crafted a 12-piece line called the Tori Spelling Collection, in 2007, both learned that pop-up, celebrity jewelry creations aren’t always met with success in the market. Unless you are Joan Rivers.

Sadly, we may never know if Mayer’s line was destined for a Teresa Caputo crash and burn or Joan Rivers blockbuster success, as he’s pulling the pieces from the store. We’ll be over here waiting on the world to change.
