Kim Kardashian is still recovering from the gunpoint robbery in her Paris residence that left her shaken and out of $5.6 million in jewels—including her recently upgraded 20-carat engagement ring—but she may soon have a bit of peace of mind. That's because one piece of her stolen jewelry was found, and it could potentially lead to the perpetrators.
The missing piece, a platinum mounted diamond cross, was stumbled upon by a passerby on the street, right outside of the apartment building where the terrible incident occurred. Miraculously, the pedestrian who spotted it reported it to police, as TMZ notes, the day after the robbery. So the next time you're feeling down on the world, remember that good people do exist, like this random person who turned over a $33,180 diamond cross from celebrity jeweler Jacob and Co. to the police.
The cross could be a breakthrough in the case because it may contain traces of the robbers' DNA. It could have passed through as many as five peoples' hands, as police have discovered that many people were involved. Ironically, when the robbers were fleeing the apartment building, one of them apparently pretended to drop a piece of jewelry as another fell off a bicycle in a "double bluff" escape, as US Weekly reports—an attempt to trick law enforcement into thinking these were amateurs. "They wanted us to believe that they were amateurs, but all the real clues point to them being extremely sophisticated professionals," the police official told Us. "There is no way a gang like this would drop stuff and fall off bicycles—all that was done for any cameras that might be in the area. It is far more likely that they played around on bikes for a few minutes after stealing the jewels, and when they still had their masks on, before they all got into a van and disappeared."
If the cross was accidentally left behind, hopefully it will reveal more about this terrible crime.
