Westlake cops called about $35000 in missing jewelry: police blotter - cleveland.com

Theft, Center Ridge Road: A $35,000 ring is missing from a home as of Sept. 30. Numerous relatives and painters have been in and out of the house.

Fraud, Margaretta Drive: A Westlake man's credit card was used for a $113 purchase in North Olmsted Sept. 28. He reported the misuse two days later. He was puzzled as the card was a chip version that never left his possession. Police believe that a cloned non-chip version was used at a credit card reader that is s not chip-compatible.    

Disorderly conduct, Canterbury Road: A 23-year-old woman argued with her mom and was told Oct. 1 to leave. Officers found her down the street and served a disorderly conduct warrant as well as citing her for an open container.

Theft, Center Ridge Road: An Avon woman's purse was taken from her unlocked 2007 Lexus RX350 Sept. 30 while she was at a Center Ridge Road school. It contained $80 cash as well as credit cards, which were then used in Strongsville to make $5,000 in purchases. Those transactions may have been recorded on closed-circuit TV. The theft from auto was reported Oct. 3.

Receiving Stolen property, Clague Road: An officer spotted a 1999 Porsche Boxster Oct. 4 that had been taken in a carjacking in South Euclid the day before. The driver failed to stop when signaled on Clague, sped west on Sperry Drive and then onto I90 westbound.  He threw out a bag of suspected narcotics as he did so. It was recovered later and will be analyzed.  The driver 28-year-old driver from Cleveland voluntarily stopped in Avon and was arrested. He already had warrants for kidnapping and aggravated burglary. His Westlake charges include receiving stolen property for the car, drug possession, tampering with evidence, felony fleeing, and traffic offenses.

Possession of marijuana, Crocker Road: A 24-year-old Elyria man was stopped on Crocker Road for a license plate violation Oct. 4. His 2003 Ford Focus contained marijuana and a loaded .32-caliber revolver. He was arrested for possession of marijuana, traffic charges, and Improper handling of a firearm.  

Operating a vehicle while impaired, Detroit Road: Two residents, a 33-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, listened to music Oct. 5 in a 2016 Honda Civic parked outside their apartment building. Fellow residents did not appreciate the racket. Officers found the woman behind the wheel and arrested her for physical control. The man admitted that he had driven there from a nearby tavern and was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired. She refused to give a breath sample. He tested at 0.181 blood alcohol content, above the legal limit.  

Theft, Marshfield Drive: A North Ridgeville woman's purse was taken from her unlocked 2011 Hyundai Elantra on the night of Oct. 4 while it was parked at a Marshfield Drive home. Her credit cards were used and the purse was turned in to Amherst police by a citizen. She had left the car keys in the purse as well.
