On Feb. 23, 2015, a man reported to police that he found the front door of his Rivergate Lane home wide open and a broken garage door window, according to Lundy-Santos’ arrest warrant.
He also reported cushions disturbed on a couch where he keeps cash hidden and a large quantity of jewelry missing from his closet.
A neighbor reported to police that they noticed an older-model blue Ford Explorer at the home that day. The man told police his ex-girlfriend, Lundy-Santos, knew the location of the emergency money and the jewelry, and that she drove a blue Ford Explorer, the warrant said.
The man said he was arrested after a domestic dispute with Lundy-Santos in November 2014, and since then she made attempts to reconnect with him, but he declined.
Police went to Lundy-Santos’ home and saw a blue Ford Explorer parked in front. Officers saw shards of glass that were tinted the same color as the specialized glass from the broken window at the man’s home on the inside of the Explorer, the warrant said. Lundy-Santos denied having been in Berlin and gave police consent to search the vehicle. Testing from a FBI laboratory later showed the shards of glass from her vehicle and the man’s home were indistinguishable from each other, the warrant said.
Police checked a database and discovered Lundy-Santos pawned jewelry 14 times, receiving a total of $31,100 for the items, the warrant said. Police went to the pawn shop and received images of the items Lundy-Santos pawned, which included an 18k gold Tiffany ring, an 18k gold Rolex watch, an 18k gold Croton watch, and various other gold items, some with diamonds or stones, according to the warrant. The representative from the pawn shop told police Lundy-Santos said a former boyfriend died and she was removing and selling jewelry from a safety deposit box, the warrant said.
Police showed the pictures of the items Lundy-Santos pawned to the man, and he immediately identified all the items as being the ones missing from his home, the warrant said. The total value of the jewelry was $217,255.
