DEWITT (WSYR-TV)
DeWitt Police have arrested a Syracuse man they say used an online application to set up the fraudulent purchase of a motor vehicle and jewelry.
Investigators say 26-year-old John Travers stole the vehicle while test driving it, and then used the stolen vehicle to meet a second victim, in order to view jewelry he acted like he wanted to purchase.
He then displayed what appeared to be a handgun and stole the jewelry as well.
Travers was located a short time after the incidents and is charged with robbery and grand larceny.
He was arraigned in DeWitt Town Court and is being held at the Justice Center on $75,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
