Laguna Beach police catch suspected burglary with $500000 in jewelry - Bakersfield Now

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Laguna Beach police say they have arrested a burglar who had $500,000 in stolen jewelry and two guns in his Oceanside residence.

The Orange County Register reports that police detectives arrested the 30-year-old man on Tuesday after their investigation linked him to a July burglary.

Detectives say they were watching the man's residence leading up to a search warrant being issued. The detectives saw the man exit the house, and they approached him.

The man then fled and detectives pursued him through several neighborhoods until he was apprehended in downtown Oceanside.

Police discovered the jewelry and guns inside the man's house, and police say some of the items were linked to the July burglary.
