SUGAR GROVE – Robyn Rogers has a business that could be described as a gem.

That’s because Rogers, a Sugar Grove resident, is the creator and jewelry maker of Boutique Robina.
Her slogan is: "Jeweled bracelets, earrings and necklaces that will make you smile!”
Rogers’s jewelry is a mix of colorful, sparkly crystals and tone beads. She calls the jewelry “shiny little pieces of happiness.”
Rogers recalled when she made her first bracelet and took time to buy and mix colors and textures.
“I can just sit down [making jewelry], and it just makes me happy,” Rogers said. “And when someone buys one they put it on, and they’re happy. People that love jewelry just love it. You put something on that you like, and it just makes you smile.”

Rogers’s main job is an office manager at PM Music Center in Aurora.
Some co-workers have requested Rogers’s jewelry – like Laurie Hamdani, an Aurora resident.
“I’m very much a bracelet person,” Hamdani said.
So, bracelets have been her main purchase. Both Rogers and Hamdani collaborate on making custom-made jewelry pieces.

“My own personal style, I kind of like things that are a little more clean or streamlined and not super glary,” Hamdani said.
Fellow co-worker Louise Vargo, a Plainfield resident, requests earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
Vargo also collaborates with Rogers on how to make the perfect design for herself.
“I have really small wrists,” Vargo said. “So sometimes I’ll see something … I’ll be like, ‘Oh. I love that!’ And then it will be way too big. And she’s like, ‘Oh. I’ll just send you a smaller one. Don’t worry about it.’”

As for how Vargo feels when she sees herself wearing Rogers’s jewelry, it is true to Boutique Robina's slogan.
“They do make me smile,” Vargo said. “It’s wonderful.”
Another part of Rogers’s creations is a variety of swinging charms, like a pastel pink glass bead with roses, silver accents and a fuchsia crystal.
Boutique Robina can be found at craft and school fairs in Sugar Grove, Hillside and Brookfield.

Tim Rogers pointed out what makes his wife’s jewelry unique.
“They’re her creations,” Tim Rogers said. “They’re color combinations. She just doesn’t buy a string of beads and stick a wire through them. She’ll take four or five different types of beads – colored beads and put them together in what she likes and would wear.”
