THEFT
Four rings were stolen from a resident's hand between the beginning of September and Oct. 6 at Friendship Haven, 1500 Sunset Drive, according to a family member's Oct. 10 report to police.
FRAUD
A Friendswood man reported the unauthorized use of his credit card information Oct. 10, police said. He discovered the fraud after receiving alerts about attempted transactions at an ATM and Treasures, both in Houston, according to the report.
A Friendswood man told police Oct. 11 someone filed a FEMA claim using his identity and home address. The imposter reportedly was awarded $500 through a wire transfer and has since applied for an SBA loan using the Friendswood man's identity, police said.
A Friendswood man found six unauthorized transactions on his debit card account Sept. 30, according to an Oct 12 police report. The transactions reportedly were made at an ATM on Westheimer in Houston.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF
A rental car's window was broken while it was parked in front of a residence in the 200 block of West Willowick Avenue, according to an Oct. 14 police report.
A vehicle's passenger-side back window was shattered sometime overnight in the 3900 block of Townes Forest Road, according to an Oct. 16 police report. The passenger door also was keyed, police said.
NARCOTICS
Police charged a Friendswood man, 36, and a Houston man, 28, with possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop Oct. 11 in the 100 block of Echo Avenue. An officer reportedly found an open container of alcohol in the cup holder as well as a bag containing 40 doses of alprazolam during a vehicle search. Bond for each was set at $1,500.
Police charged a homeless man, 40, with possession of a controlled substance after a welfare check Oct. 12 at Skyhawk Apartments, 17231 Blackhawk Blvd. Officers arrived to find the man sleeping on a bench and discovered he was wanted in Galveston County for assault. An officer conducting inventory at the jail reportedly found crystal methamphetamine, 12 fraudulent checks, several sheets of blank checks and USB drives in the man's possession. Bond was set at $20,000 for the drug charge, but the assault warrant had no bond, police said.
A Friendswood woman, 45, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after she reportedly was loitering in a bank parking lot Oct. 13 in the 200 block of East Parkwood Avenue, police said. An officer found three small bags containing methamphetamine in the woman's purse, according to the report.
Police charged a 19-year-old Friendswood man with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop for a license plate violation Oct. 14 in the 4400 block of Friendswood Link Road. An officer reportedly found several marijuana cigarettes in the ashtray, next to the driver's seat and in the center console during a vehicle search.
A Friendswood woman, 32, and a League City woman, 28, were charged with possession of a controlled substance after an officer noticed a vehicle driving without headlights on into oncoming traffic Oct. 16 in the 100 block of Winding Road, police said. The younger woman was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license. She reportedly had bags containing a mixture of cocaine and methamphetamine in her underclothes, police said, and her bond was set at $25,000. The passenger's bond was set at $100,00 after a search revealed a bag of methamphetamine residue in her backpack and another bag of methamphetamine in her underclothes, according to the report.
DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
A Friendswood woman, 48, was charged with DWI after a reckless driver was reported Oct. 10 in the 2200 block of South Friendswood Drive, police said. An undercover officer confirmed the vehicle failed to maintain a single lane, hit a curb and nearly struck another motorist, according to the report.
The woman failed a field sobriety test and was found to have a Galveston County probation violation warrant, police said. Bond was set at $3,500.
Police charged a League City woman, 39, with DWI and possession of a controlled substance after she reportedly drove onto a curb Oct. 14 in the 300 block of Whispering Pines. She had a bottle of liquor in the backseat and failed a field sobriety test, according to the report. Bond was set at $2,500. A Houston man, 31, also was taken into custody for public intoxication. During a vehicle search, the officer reportedly found tramadol and a bottle of vodka.
PUBLIC INTOXICATION
Police charged an Alvin man, 26, with public intoxication after he reportedly hung his upper torso out of a moving vehicle while not wearing a seat belt Oct. 13 in the 300 block of North Friendswood Drive. The driver passed a field sobriety test and was told he could take his friend home, but the passenger refused and told officers to take him to jail, according to the police report.
Police charged a Friendswood man, 30, with public intoxication after a witness reported a man asleep with his legs in the roadway Oct. 15 in the 3500 block of West Bay Area Boulevard. An officer found the man asleep in the median, police said.
ASSAULT
Police took a Friendswood woman, 26, into custody for assault, family violence after she reportedly grabbed and scratched her ex-boyfriend during an argument Oct. 11 in the 600 block of Castlelake.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Police arrested a 17-year-old League City man for failure to identify after he reportedly used profane language toward a clerk at the Friendswood Municipal Court. An officer approached him in the parking lot, and the man refused three requests to provide his identification. He was taken into custody, and the officer searched his person and found the identification.
A Webster woman, 33, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a disturbance Oct. 13 at Taco Bell, 209 E. Parkwood Ave., police said. A witness reported a woman with rainbow hair running around the drive-thru, and police arrived to find the woman yelling at staff in the restaurant. She refused to give her name and would not show the officer her ID. She also resisted the officer's attempts to detain her, according to the report. Bond was set at $1,500.
TRAFFIC
Police charged an Alvin man, 59, with driving while license invalid and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop for multiple license plates Oct. 10 in the 3100 block of Park Bend Drive. The man's driver's license was suspended and he had several outstanding Galveston County traffic warrants, police said. The officer reportedly found an open container of beer under the passenger seat, a small bag of marijuana in the console, marijuana in the glove box and a black bag containing syringes, a scale, a spoon and methamphetamine residue during a vehicle search.
A Houston man, 26, was charged with driving while license invalid, possession of drug paraphernalia and no insurance after an officer observed him making a U-turn to park in front of a closed business Oct. 16 in the 5000 block of FM 2351, police said. A vehicle search reportedly yielded a bag of marijuana.
OTHER INCIDENTS
Police are investigating a case of illegal dumping Oct. 10 at Hometown Bank, 3211 FM 528. A foreman working at the bank reported the incident and provided police with the name and phone number of the suspect retrieved from invoices attached to some of the dumped boxes, police said. Attempts to contact the suspect were initially unsuccessful. When the victim contacted the suspect by text message, the suspect replied, "Catch me if you can," according to the report.
An Alvin man, 45, with a warrant for retaliation turned himself in to League City police Oct. 15. He reportedly threatened physical harm to a witness cooperating in a criminal investigation in which he is a suspect, police said. The man posted a $20,000 bond and was released Oct. 16.
Drug take-back day allows citizens to clear medicine cabinets
Law enforcement representatives will accept unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for off-site disposal at several locations during Bay Area Medication Take-Back Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 28.
Drop-off sites include: Hope Lutheran Church, 1804 S. Friendswood Drive; Bay Area Annex, 16602 Diana Lane; Kemah Police Department, 1401 Texas 146; League City Police Department, 555 W. Walker St.; Taylor Lake Village City Hall, 500 Kirby Blvd.; and Webster Fire Station, 18300 State Hwy. 3.

Experts lead self-defense course
Women can learn realistic self-defense tactics during a 15-hour course at Hope Lutheran Church of Friendswood, 1804 S. Friendswood Drive.
The RAD Systems-or Rape Aggression Defense-program focuses on awareness, prevention and risk reduction and includes the basics of hands-on defense training.
Course times are 6-9:30 p.m. Nov. 16 and Nov. 17; 4-8 p.m. Nov. 18; and 2-6 p.m. Nov. 19. Attendance each day is required.
