Jared jewelry store planned near Mall at UTC - Sarasota Herald-Tribune
Jared is planning its first Southwest Florida jewelry store at a site just to the west of the Mall at University Town Center.
Commercial building permits filed with Sarasota County on Wednesday call for $700,000 worth of construction for an interior build out for a new Jared jewelry store at 192 N. Cattlemen Road. That strip, which is owned by a subsidiary of Manatee County-based Benderson Development Co., is currently home to California Pizza Kitchen. Shake Shack, the New York-based burger joint with a zealous following similar to Trader Joe’s and Wawa, is expected to open there next year.
Jared, a Signet Jewelers company, had 275 stores in 41 states as of January 2017, according to Signet’s website. The closest Jared to Sarasota located in St. Petersburg. The brand is known for being an off-mall option for jewelry and accounted for 19 percent of Signet’s sales in fiscal year 2017.
The company also owns brands such as Kay Jewelers, Piercing Pagoda and Zales. Signet currently has Kay Jewelers stores at Westfield Sarasota Square, the Mall at University Town Center and DeSoto Square Mall as well as a Zales at the Mall at University Town Center.
The jewelry giant closed its Marks and Morgan Jewelry store at Westfield Sarasota Square about this time last year.
