WATCH: Criminal crashes through Harrison jewelry store rooftop - WLWT Cincinnati
Police released surveillance video showing a man breaking in through the ceiling of a jewelry store in Harrison, Ohio.
Investigators believe the man seen falling is linked to a similar break-in that happened Thursday morning in Montgomery, in which a man also broke in through the rooftop.
Video shows the man crashing through layers of insulation and ceiling tile at Bacovin Jewelers over the New Year's holiday.
Police said the man likely used a ladder from a nearby business and climbed up onto the roof, ripped out a satellite dish and cut his way through with tin snips.
Lt. Terry Lowery says it's something he's never seen before in his 27 years on the job.
"Not to this degree, no. This was just, it was just the whole situation was just strange," Lowery said.
The man hit the ground and tripped an alarm. He then leaped over the front jewelry counter and made a mad dash to get out.
"He didn't stop for anything. He made a beeline for the front door," Lowery said.
The man got away, but officers now believe he may have hit again.
Surveillance cameras captured a picture of a man who also attempted to break through a jewelry store roof in Montgomery.
"We're not sure, but it sounds like it's the same thing. We're going to share information and see where we can go with it," Lowery said.
Police suggest that all jewelers keep their security cameras rolling just in case the suspect tries to hit again.
"Keep doing it because eventually, we're going to get him. You know, I've been chastised before for saying we're going to get them, but we've got a pretty good batting record," Lowery said.
If arrested, the man will face felony charges for breaking and entering and vandalism. If you recognize this man, call police or Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.
Police said the man didn't get away with any merchandise in Harrison or Montgomery.
