Linesville woman jailed on charges of selling jewelry stolen from elderly woman - Meadville Tribune
A Linesville woman was jailed for allegedly selling jewelry that was taken from an 83-year-old Espyville woman at knifepoint.
Andrea Michelle Boughner, 55, was arrested after state police discovered she allegedly sold multiple pieces of jewelry that matched the description of jewelry taken from the elderly woman, according to a state police criminal complaint.
The Espyville woman told state police that she heard knocking on the door of her home at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The person knocking on the door identified themselves as someone she knows, according to the affidavit of probable cause accompanying the charges.
When the woman opened the door, she was met by a man in dark clothing, wearing a mask and brandishing a large knife. The man told her to give him all of her jewelry, and she complied, according to the affidavit.
The woman told police the man took approximately $50,000 worth of necklaces, rings, earrings, pendants, assorted stones, chains and other items. The woman recently took an inventory of her jewelry and had it photographed, according to the affidavit.
On Tuesday afternoon, police located an assortment of 10-karat and 14-karat pieces of jewelry that were allegedly sold to a local business by Boughner earlier in the day, according to the affidavit.
The Espyville woman was able to identify each item of jewelry in detail, the affidavit states.
Boughner received $231 for the jewelry she sold. The estimated value of that jewelry was $2,310, according to the affidavit.
Boughner was arraigned Tuesday on charges of a third-degree felony count of receiving stolen property and a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft by deception.
She was committed to the Crawford County jail Wednesday in lieu of $50,000 monetary bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 13.
