FRANKFORD -- Cailey Jewelers celebrated its move to a new location on Route 206 recently with a grand re-opening ceremony, as well as the chance to meet a former NFL player.
On May 5, members of both the Frankford Township Economic Development Committee and the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce joined Congressional candidate Steve Lonegan in helping owner Todd Deming and his family introduce the store's new location at 80 Route 206. Ex-New York Giant Lee Rouson -- a personal friend of Deming whom the owner referred to as a "good-hearted guy" -- was on hand to greet the guests and pose for photos from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"We had numerous amounts of people, a lot of young kids and the dads who would know Lee better," Deming said.
Cailey Jewelers now has its own building for the first time in its 25-year history, one of the main reasons Deming decided to make the move. The new building also has additional space, which Deming hopes to rent out eventually.
Looking forward, Deming is hoping to soon introduce a feature at Cailey Jewelers unique to other local shops: a drive-up area that customers can use for watch repairs and pickups, among other services. The building was previously used as a bank, he explained, so while he was not necessarily looking for the feature, he wants to make use of it since it is included.
"There's a lot of people that I think would take advantage of it," said Deming, who envisions the service as a "good talking point" for residents.
The new home of Cailey Jewelers is just one of the many changes expected at Ross's Corner in the near future; construction on a Quick Chek next door is already underway, and in March, the Frankford Land Use Board officially approved plans for a Wawa convenience store on the site of the Chatterbox Drive-In.
Deming hopes to see even more growth in the next few years, and he is confident that his store will play a major role in it.
"I think the future growth of Cailey Jewelers is wide open," Deming said. "We are kind of the start of what's going to be happening here."
