Authorities are searching for two men who stole a diamond ring from a Kay Jewelers in Southern Pines on Saturday night.
Southern Pines police said two men entered the Kay Jewelers off Brucewood Road just after 8:30 p.m. and one man stood by the door while another asked a salesperson to look at a diamond ring.
After the salesperson handed the ring to the man, he placed it on one of his fingers and both men ran from the store, police said.
Authorities said the men were seen leaving the store in a gold Buick.
One man was described as white with a tattoo of a cross and a teardrop on his cheek as well as multiple tattoos on his arms. He was wearing a white hat, a shirt with red, blue and white stripes, whie-and-blue shorts and red shoes.
The second man was described as black and was last seen wearing a green shirt with the words “doubt it” written on the front, blue jeans and a hat.
Authorities said the Saturday night incident is similar to an incident reported Friday at a Kay Jewelers in Richmond County.
