Jewelry worth over $31,000 missing after prolonged period: Hunting Valley Police Blotter - cleveland.com

HUNTING VALLEY, Ohio

Theft: SOM Center Road

A detective took information on July 16 for jewelry missing from a home, including a $28,000 David Yurman yellow gold watch with a mother of pearl dial, a $2,100 yellow gold wedding band, and earrings worth over $1,100.

The report was taken mostly for insurance purposes, with a Chubb investigator looking into it, as well. Police said there are numerous caretakers in and out of the house and the timeline for the disappearance is almost two years.

Squad call: Mather Lane

Responding to a frantic 911 call believed to have come from a neighbor, police and medics responded to a residence where a woman, 72, had been stung by bees around 1:45 p.m. July 21. She was treated at the scene for several stings and declined medical transport.

Trespassing, suspicion: SOM Center Road

Police received a call at 5:35 a.m. July 21 from security at Lower University School in Shaker Heights watching cameras at the Upper School, where an unknown man, carrying a briefcase or bag, was seen in the dining room on a day when the janitor was not around. Police determined that the suspect was a teacher preparing for a field trip.

Squad call: County Line Road

Police responded to a report of a man, 54, choking on a nicotine lozenge around 4:15 p.m. July 20. Within two minutes, he was no longer choking and was talking again, with Russell first responders being called off.

Fire call: Hunting Hill Farm Drive

Mutual aid was canceled following an initial smoke alarm going off shortly after 7:30 p.m. July 17 that was found to be a fire on the burner of an electric stove at the residence. The fire was reportedly out within 16 minutes.

Animal (miscellaneous): SOM Center Road

An officer helped remove raccoons from a trash can without incident around 9:40 a.m. July 19.

Squad call (canceled): Chagrin River Road, Fairmount Boulevard

After a caller reported a bicyclist lying on the side of the road with a possible injury around 8:40 a.m. July 19, the cyclist declined an ambulance and received a ride home to Gates Mills from police.
