Trio posed as tourists to steal cash, jewelry from Buddhist and Hindu temples around the country: feds - New York Daily News
The trio traveled to several states posing as tourists and visited each temple during operating hours. While one of them distracted staff members with questions about the facility, the other two would steal money and gold jewelry, sometimes taking pieces of gold directly from statues representing various deities, the U.S. Department of Justice said Monday in a news release.
