After its elegant soiree at the New York Public Library earlier this year, the French house opted for a more intimate yet equally glamorous affair yesterday evening at Bergdorf Goodman. Celebrating two-time Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley, the event was meant to toast talent and the brand’s delicate yet dazzling fine jewelry project, the Jewel Box, which opens to the public today and runs through Sunday. It didn’t have to try too hard with a guest list that numbered some of the brightest young things, including Alexa Chung, Ellie Bamber, and Justice Smith.
As Alessandra Brawn Neidich, Fabiola Beracasa Beckman, and Vanessa Traina sauntered onto the seventh floor, the world of Bergdorf’s was transformed into a precious and delicate jewel box punctuated by sparkling stones. After Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis, Jessica Hart, and Gucci Westman peered into elegant vitrines and displays—including a gilded birdcage—it was time for an equally pretty meal, which was only enhanced by a rousing performance from Andra Day. But does Knightley, the face of Chanel’s fine jewelry line, have a favorite piece from the label? “I’ve got a little black jacket,” mused the actress in a grand, twinkling dress, adding, “You can’t get better than that.”
