Shoplifter pretends to be customer, steals... - Local 10

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. - A lackadaisical shopper perused the isles of New York Jewelry in Oakland Park before he ran out of the store with stolen items.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies released a video Tuesday of the man who ran out of the jewelry store Oct. 26 after pretending to be a customer at the store in the Oakland Park Flea Market.

The video shows the laid-back shopper talking to the sales clerk for more than 10 minutes while he is trying on a gold bracelet and ring. After discussing the items and inquiring about the price, the man rushed to the door with the jewelry still on his wrist.

The man is described as being in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

BSO detectives are still searching for the unidentified man shown in the video. Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
