More than $700 in jewelry and cash were stolen during a break-in of a home surrounded by woods and fields in Frenchtown Township last week.

The theft occurred in the 8200 block of Reinhardt Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. Among the items taken were a man’s gold watch valued at $300 and with the words "Love, June" engraved on the back and a gold 1982 Class ring valued at $100. Also missing were a 24-inch gold chain worth $100, a gold bracelet valued at $100, miscellaneous gold earrings worth $100 and about $40 in change.
The owner told deputies he left on vacation with his family and discovered the break-in when he returned Thursday. Entry into the home was made through a kitchen window that was forced open.
