Todd's Jewelers - Jewelry Choices for Men and Boys - Roanoke Times

It’s not surprising that with the wide variety of jewelry available today, men and boys are wearing it more now than ever.  Guys of all ages and all walks of life are getting one or both ears pierced - as well as other body parts - and many want high-quality pieces to accent their new fashion statement.

Chains in silver and gold are also popular, but not  practical for young boys or men with active lifestyles, says Jeanie Ratliff, who owns Todd’s Jewelers along with husband, Todd, and son, T.J.,. Many parents buy stainless steel chains for their young sons instead. They don’t hold their value as a precious metal would, but they are economical and will always keep their shine.

Bracelets are also popular, as are rings. They are available in several kinds of metal, including gold, stainless steel and titanium. Diamonds or other gemstones can be channel set into the band to give the piece a lower profile.

Crosses, Stars of David and other religious items - such as milestone and saints’ medals, as well as rosaries - can be memorable gifts for men and boys as they pass through the stages of their faith traditions.

Although some people like the ceremony of gifting a man with cufflinks or a tie clip, Todd Ratliff says most men only wear these for special occasions. And remember - if your man is a little too tough on his accessories, a reputable jeweler can also make repairs.
