Thieves steal $50000 in coins, metals and jewelry from Pasadena business - The Pasadena Star-News

Burglars broke into a Pasadena business and fled with jewelry, precious metals and coins valued at over $50,000 on Wednesday night, police said.

Pasadena police didn’t want to release a more detailed description of the stolen merchandise, claiming they don’t want the suspects to ditch the items.

Officers learned of the burglary at Huntington Rare Coins and Precious Metals on West Del Mar Boulevard shortly after 10:16 p.m.

Lt. Pete Hettema said officers checking why the alarm activated at the store discovered the back door open.

Four people wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and light-colored clothing broke into the business, according to Lt. John Luna. He added that a late model dark-colored vehicle was also seen in the area.

Store owner Wayne Wojdak said police have seen the store surveillance video. The burglars were in and out quickly, according to Wojdak.

“It was a smash and grab,” he said.

It’s the first time the Pasadena store has been broken into, Wojdak said, adding that the store has been in the city for seven years.
