Man breaks in home through doggy door, steals $6000 worth of jewelry - WSAZ-TV
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (WSAZ) Police say a man was arrested after breaking into a woman's home in Williamson.
Jake Jackson was arrested on Tuesday.
Kathe Whitt said Jackson entered through her small doggy door.
"I was shocked actually. I mean, he is a skinny man," Whitt said. "He's small, but it still kind of surprised me that he would even attempt to do that."
Williamson Police say Jackson stole $6,000 worth of jewelry. Police said Jackson was also wanted for another attempted burglary in the area.
Whitt had the chance to speak to Jackson at the Williamson Police Department. Whitt said Jackson admitted to crawling through her doggy door and stealing her belongings. She said he even admitted to selling the jewelry for drugs.
"Of course I was angry. My first intention was just to hit him and kick him," Whitt said.
Whitt said she did get some of her belongings back, but many of the meaningful items had already been sold when Jackson was arrested.
"It's very hard to accept that you're not going to get them back," Whitt said.
Jackson faces two daytime burglary charges. He will also be charged with destruction of property and grand larceny.
