Heard on the Street: Some sparkle returns to North Broadway with jewelry shop re-launch - PostBulletin.com

It looks like a bit of sparkle is coming back to North Broadway in the form of a new version of a longtime jewelry shop.

Kirckof died in 2013 and his wife, Carol Kirckof took over the business. It was Carol Kirchof's retirement that drove this year's closure.

Now the lights are back on and jewelry is shining again at 1800 N. Broadway.

Karla Dison, Carol's daughter, is re-launching business under a new name — KD Fine Jewelers — at the same address.

Dison has much of the previous staff working in the shop to offer the same array of services, such as custom jewelry work and repair as well as providing a wide array of retail pieces for sale.

An official grand opening for KD Fine Jewelry is set for Nov. 21.

A banner on display in Southeast Rochester seems to bode well for Med City fans of a local barbecue legend.

A sign stating "Bob's Smokestack Ribs — Coming Soon!" can be seen draped on a fence next to A to Z Repairs at 1619 Third Ave. SE. That's across the street from the Praxair Welding Gas and Supply Store at 1620 Third Ave. SE.

I'm not certain what it signals yet, but it seems like a good sign of barbecue to come.

I'll keep my eyes open to see what the Lewis family has cooking for Rochester's Third Avenue Southeast.

Thanks to astute man-about-town Travis Mueller for pointing out the banner.
