Jewelry worth about $8,000 was stolen from a Beason Road home.
The home’s security system sent out an alert at 11 a.m. Friday, but the burglar was gone by the time the owners arrived a few minutes later.
The front door was open and some of the jewelry was on the ground.
The only item disturbed in the home was a jewelry dresser chest.

- Someone broke into a Shamrock Road home in Neeses.
When the resident arrived home early Saturday morning, he found someone entered the home through the rear door after failed attempts at getting in through the front door and garage door.
Once inside, the burglar tore down the chandelier in the dining room and drove a meat cleaver into a wall in an upstairs bedroom.
Deputies collected the meat cleaver as evidence.
In addition, the burglar stole putty knives from the kitchen counter.
- A Rivelon Road resident reported Sunday night that someone burglarized her home and stole a handgun, laptop, DVD player and jewelry. The value of the stolen items is $1,800.
