Meeka Fine Jewelry has a new place to call home - PennLive.com

Meeka Fine Jewelry has a new place to call home but, not that far away from its previous home in Camp Hill.

Monika Krol opened Meeka Fine Jewelry in 2014 and recently purchased and renovated the property at 2135 Market Street in Camp Hill. Krol previously leased space at 2205 Market St. and said that business was doing very well at that location and figured the next step was to find a place of her own but, she wanted to stay in Camp Hill.

"I love the neighborhood," she said. "I love all my business neighbors."

When the property at 2205 Market St. went up for sale, Krol and her husband purchased the building in July and later closed the previous location in August.

"We had been keeping our eye on the area," she said.

The former doctor's office was renovated. The walls of the three main rooms were knocked down to make a showroom, and the receptionist area is now Krol's studio where customers can watch her make jewelry.

Krol opened the new shop this past Saturday. Before Krol opened her business in November of 2014, she had previously worked for another jewelry maker for eight years, who was her professor at the University of The Arts in Philadelphia.

It was at the University of The Arts where Krol became interested in making jewelry.

"I took an elective in jewelry and absolutely fell in love," she said.

Krol designs and makes her own line of jewelry including rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets from a studio at the shop. Krol says that her designs are inspired by the stones she collects. She also creates custom pieces such as engagement rings and wedding bands. She also resets stones and redesigns family heirlooms.

In addition to Krol's work, Meeka Fine Jewelry features the work of seven other independent artisans. For some their inspiration might come from nature and from others from the sea, Krol said.

"Each of the artists have their own inspirations," she said.

She also carries additional collections for a limited time. In addition to Krol, the shop employs one other person.

Krol says that the store's name, Meeka Fine Jewelry is based on a nickname, Meeka, given to her by a cousin when they were growing up.

A ribbon-cutting was held on Saturday,

The shop is open from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday.
